When the firebreak period ends in Wales on 9 November, there will be a new set of national measures, which will replace the previous restrictions.
Businesses that were required to close during the firebreak will be able to reopen, and the requirement to stay home and the tough restrictions on meeting people will be removed.
However, the Welsh Government has warned that it is necessary to reduce the risk, so that no further firebreaks are needed. They are encouraging people to continue to work from home wherever possible.
Employers should support employees to work from home if feasible while isolating; if isolating employees cannot work from home, they may be eligible for a self-isolation payment or for statutory sick pay due to COVID-19. Employers who do not allow employees to remain at home in order to self-isolate would be in breach of the Regulations and could receive a fixed penalty notice of £1000, or face prosecution.
Workplaces can remain open if people can work safely. Guidance for employers can be found here.
Accessing parks: Currently, you cannot travel from England to Wales unless for work or a reasonable reason until 2 December. Confirmation has been received that caravan owners from elsewhere in the UK may return to a Welsh park to collect their belongings and secure their caravan for winter. However, they should agree a time and date to visit the site, whilst on the park they must continue to observe the social distancing measures, and they are not permitted to stay overnight while current travel restrictions are in operation.
The full detailed guidance from the Welsh Government can be found here.
