The NCC has published an 85th anniversary special supplement that celebrates a wide range of milestones and achievements through the decades.

The trade association was founded in 1939 by Bill Whiteman, the Editor of Caravan Magazine, and since those early days the NCC, which covers the leisure vehicle and holiday/residential park industry’s entire supply chain, has been at the heart of domestic tourism in the UK.

NCC Director General John Lally said: “Since our founding, the NCC has stood as a pillar of support for all sectors and businesses operating in the UK caravan industry – advocating best practice, fostering collaboration, and driving progress.

“Over the years, we have witnessed incredible transformations in the sectors – technological advancements, regulatory changes, and evolving market demands – all of which have shaped the UK industry into what it is today.”

The supplement looks at how the leisure vehicle and holiday/residential park sectors have evolved over the years, and charts the past 85 years through a timeline of key milestones and achievements. Some long-standing members also share their views on the role of the NCC and how it benefits their own businesses.

Today the NCC continues to help shape future policy and legislation in the industry while also championing the sector’s best interests. It offers expert technical support services, operates a training academy dedicated to improving knowledge and skills for employees within the sector, and runs the Manufacturer Approval Scheme that ensures safety and technical compliance, which ultimately offers consumers peace of mind when they purchase products.

John added: “This 85th anniversary is not just a celebration of our past but a commitment to our future. Together, we will continue to grow, innovate, and uphold the values that have defined us for nearly a century.”
