Caravans Act Northern Ireland Act 2012
Published on 02/12/2012

On Friday 9th November the caravan industry in Northern Ireland hosted a seminar to review the Caravans Act (Northern Ireland) 2011 after its first year in force.

Over 85 holiday park and Government representatives attended the seminar at which David Livingstone, Head of Trading Standards, gave a key note presentation on what has happened since the Act came into force and the top 8 issues that have been brought to the attention of Trading Standards.

Mr Livingstone praised the industry for embracing the Act and engaging positively with the Service. He also cautioned the industry against complacency and urged parks to keep industry best practice and customer care at the forefront of their business, particularly in light of further legislative reform of the residential parks industry in both England and Wales, and debates in both Westminster and the Wales Assembly highlighting unscrupulous behaviour of a minority of park operators.

Mr Livingstone also used the seminar to publish his department’s guidance to both consumers and holiday park operators on the Caravans Act – to download a copy of ‘Caravan Holiday Homes – the questions you should ask’

Caravan Holiday Homes Guide (Updated 2014)

This booklet (updated 2014) provides advice for owners, or people considering buying a caravan holiday home, commonly known as a ‘static’ caravan.
